Frequently asked questions

Why a surcharge?

The Porcelain Fever exhibition is a particularly precious exhibition for the Princessehof. That it is such an expensive exhibition is because of its exceptional collection. Many pieces are unique and therefore particularly precious. High object value means high insurance value, especially because they are also very fragile pieces; that's why they hardly ever travel. Because of that fragility and because of all kinds of protection and precautions, transports are expensive.

To make such an exhibition possible, we are forced to charge visitors a surcharge. For card holders, this is a one-off fee, so it does not apply to repeat visits. You will receive a sticker on your card for this.

Why is there a surcharge for the Museum Year Card, but not for the Friends Lottery VIP Card?

The Friends Lottery pays the surcharge for their members.

How do we ensure that the museum remains accessible, also for visitors with a narrow budget?

Accessibility is very important to us. That's why entrance is always free on the first day of the exhibition. This way, everyone can come and see the exhibition.

We also organise free (children's) activities, such as 'Princessedag'. So that a new target group can get to know the museum. Some of these activities also include free admission. Would you like to stay informed? Sign up for the newsletter.

In addition, we organise many visits together with schools, which discover the museum at a reduced rate. Do you need a discounted ticket price or are you curious whether an activity also suits your care needs? Then contact us at activiteiten@friesmuseum.nl
