Golden Friends

50 years of friendship with the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics

For 50 years, the Princessehof has been assisted by a club of loyal ceramics-loving Friends. The Association of Friends of the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics collects leading contemporary ceramics and gives them on loan to the Princessehof. After half a century, the association has built up an impressive collection. To mark their 50th anniversary, and in gratitude for their support, the Princessehof presents an anniversary exhibition. The exhibition Golden Friends: 50 years of friendship with Keramiekmuseum Princessehof will feature a selection of more than 25 works from the Friends' collection. The exhibition can be seen from 22 June 2024 to 7 September 2025.

The Friends of the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics collection showcases the spectacular development of ceramics after World War II. For the first time, clay mixtures and glazes are available for sale to everyone and there is plenty of opportunity to experiment with techniques and materials. Thus, traditional utensils increasingly gave way to freer forms. In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Friends' Association, the Princessehof is highlighting part of its “golden friends” collection. The exhibition will include work by Arnold Annen (1952, Switzerland), Carmen Dionyse (1921-2013, Belgium), Bart Drost (1955, Netherlands), Alexandra Engelfriet (1959, Netherlands), Heringa/Van Kalsbeek, Eduard Hermans (1959, Netherlands), Kayoko Hoshino (1949, Japan), Bodil Manz (1943, Denmark), among others, Hanna Mobach (1934-2024, the Netherlands), Barbara Nanning (1957, the Netherlands), Anne Marie Laureys (1962, Belgium), David Regan (1964, America), Studio Wieki Somers (2003, the Netherlands), Akio Takamori (1950-2017, Japan), Joan Takayama-Ogawa (1955, America), Wolfgang Vegas (1958, Venezuela) and unknown makers from Africa.
