Annemie Boissevain started her gallery in Amsterdam in 1975. In recent decades, the gallery specialised in sculptural ceramics and enjoyed (inter)national renown. Boissevain's audacity in deviating from the beaten track made her gallery popular among artists. The Van Achterbergh Prize is awarded every two years to a person or institution of special significance for the development of contemporary ceramic arts in the Netherlands. This award was created in memory of the ceramics collector and connoisseur J.W.N. van Achterbergh. Several candidates were reviewed but the jury was unanimous in its nomination of the owner of Galerie De Witte Voet. Annemie Boissevain recently closed her gallery in Amsterdam after being active for more than 40 years.

Experimental
The exhibition shows the quality and diversity of the work exhibited by De Witte Voet over the past 42 years. Most of the works on display were purchased by the Princessehof via Galerie De Witte Voet. The often experimental works were made by artists from the Netherlands and abroad . Anne-Marie van Sprang is making an installation especially for the exhibition, which also includes works by Satoru Hoshino, Maarten Heijkamp, Pablo Ponce, Nick Renshaw, Piet Stockmans and Irene Vonck, among others.

Galerie De Witte Voet 1975 -2017 opens simultaneously with the exhibitions Design#4: Jelle Mastenbroek and Lennart Lahuis: Land Slides.
