Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum is celebrating its 450th anniversary. Over the centuries, this ceramics factory in Makkum has grown into the best-known ceramics company in the Netherlands and become a worldwide concept. The company is characterised by its quest to transcend the limits of the material. The exhibition in Leeuwarden therefore shows a broad palette of colours, products and techniques, ranging from glaze samples and sketches from Tresoar’s archive to tile tableaux and ceramic football accessories. Some of Tichelaar's newer work will also be on display: 3D printed tiles, architectural design and its latest collaborative project with design studio Humade.
