Tea caddy with shepherd scenes, 1735 – 1745, Tile Bakery d’Oude Prins, Amsterdam, earthenware, Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics (on loan from Ottema-Kingma Stichting).
Tile bakers responded to the demand for Delftware by expanding their product line. This Amsterdam tea caddy is visibly constructed from slabs of clay the thickness of a tile. The caddy is less refined than a Delftware caddy, but is equally suitable for storing valuable imported tea.
