Dish with ornamental decoration, Spain, Manises, 1475 – 1525, earthenware, Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics (on loan from Ottema-Kingma Stichting).

This 15th-century Spanish plate features the same leaf motif as the Iranian star tile. The Spanish borrowed not only the decoration from the Middle East, but also the shape. The plate was based on a metal example. The raised part in the middle served as a support for the jug that was supposed to stand on the plate.
