Celadon
Celadon is ceramic with a glaze in a special green colour. Its origins lie in China, but it was eventually made throughout East Asia. Especially in China it is still popular today because of its resemblance to the colour of jade, a precious green stone. In Southeast Asia and the Middle East, Celadon was even attributed a magical effect. The glaze would show whether food was poisoned: the colour would then change or the plate would break.
