Pot with two ears in the shape of a panther and decoration in Iznik-style, so called Nieuw-Delfts. 1910 – 1949, De Porceleyne Fles, Delft, painter J.A. Burghoorn, earthenware, Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics (on loan from Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed).

With ‘Nieuw-Delfts’, De Porceleyne Fles focused its attention on the age-old ceramics from the Middle East. Some models and decorations were literally copied, but often they were also their own interpretations. What is special about this pot is that the model is based on a Persian example, while the decoration is inspired by one from the Turkish city of İznik.
